One of the perks of owning my own business is that between customers coming in I can cut out patterns and tape them together and not get in trouble! It's great being able to do what I want instead of trying to find something to do when it's slow. Today I brought in a project and did a little hand sewing for a gift I am working on. Hopefully, I will have something to show you tomorrow.

Green shirt from a vintage pattern. It's all cut out, just waiting to be sewn. I think I am making excuses not to work on it because it has an invisible zipper and I am kind of scared of it.


I bought this pattern on Ebay a while ago.
The reason that it took me so long to make is because I was procrastinating on putting in an invisible zipper. And it turned out to be no big deal, so I stressed for nothing!

I learned a lot from making this shirt. I had never used an invisible zipper and I had never used bias tape. From the outside the bias tape looks good, but the inside is another story. Oh well, live and learn, right?

The pattern came today. Hurray! I can't wait to start the sewalong. Now I just need to get an invisible zipper foot...

I am going to read this book next. It has good reviews and my Grandma Vicki thinks that I will like it. Speaking of Vicki, I had such a fun day with her on Saturday. I went to her house and we talked about sewing/quilting, looked at each others projects, had an amazing lunch from New Frontiers, and went to Betty's to look at fabric. What a good day!

Yesterday I attended the Seven Sisters Quilt Show in San Luis Obispo. I dont even know what to say... I'm speechless! The quilts were so amazing and inspiring, truly works of art. The photo above is of one of my favorite quilts from the day. Unfortunately, I didn't get to stay too long :(

Before I left I HAD to buy this pincushion. It reminds me of my mom because she has one just like it :)

I bought this pattern for these bears. Aren't they cute? I think they will make good presents for all the people I know that are having babies!

Yesterday wasn't the best day ever, so I had to wait until today to work on my quilt. Stella helped me out, as usual.

I sewed everything together and made the quilt top. Hurray! Next I am adding borders to the edges.

Ok, I rarely get this crazy with shopping because I am broke, but this week I went crazy for sewing/quilt supplies! My instructor said that I needed these three feet for my machine, so I ordered them off the Internet. I wanted to buy local, buy the closest Brother dealer is in Santa Barbara. With gas prices that is an expensive drive!
