Tea embroidery for a tea towel

Yesterday was a "Craft Day" for me and some friends. Two girls worked on their sewing machines, one drew, and I embroidered. It is my second embroidery project, so there is  room for improvement, but it was a fun, relaxing project to work on.

Ideally my kitchen would be entirely black, white, pink, and mint, but we rent and can't paint :( Plus finding things in mint is hard to do! The upside of being a DIYer is that you can make things to match, like my tea towel!

  1. So cute! The idea of making crafty things to build up a palette for an otherwise-uninteresting room is great: you may've inspired me to think of some craft-decor projects for our soul-less bedroom! Ah, those far-future days when we can all paint without cajoling a landlord-- they can't come fast enough!

Mint and pink and embroidery all seem to go together in a sweet, '60s sort of way! I was oggling embroidered tea towels in an antique shop the other day (those had donkeys on them! Cute little donkeys!) and thinking about how iconically vintage they are. It's great that you're recreating that!

    1. I literally tell me husband that I can't wait until we own a house, so we can decorate and make things cute. He usually rolls his eyes at me :)

    1. Thank you! A coworker from my last job knew that I was searching for a pink tea kettle and she surprised me with it.

  5. How cute! I did some embroidery as Christmas presents for my SILs and my mom. I don't think I expected it to be as soothing as it was.

    1. I like the fact that you can stop and start whenever you want. With sewing I feel like I need to have certain stopping points before I can quit for the day.

    2. True. I sometimes struggle to remember just where I was if there was time between stopping a sewing project and picking it up (say, more than just sleeping).

  8. Love the embroidery! Have you checked out Sublime Stitching? Well, if you can freehand your designs like that, you prolly don't need a pattern. I'm an embroidery newb. I CAN. NOT. WAIT. to be able to do whatever I want with my home. Yeah, my landlady took photos of me in a pinch, but dude. I know how to paint a wall. And then paint it back. We painted our kitchen pink in our last place! It was called "shrimp pink", and the rest of our paint was all food themed. So fun!!!

    1. My friend directed me to Sublime Stitching and even bought me the starter kit! Her stuff is so cute! The image I embroidered was from the kit.

I want to paint soooo bad! But Luke doesn't want to paint and then paint it back :( Can you talk to him for me? hahaha
